October..The Month of Halloween!

It's finally Halloween and my favorite holiday is finally around the corner: Halloween. Although Halloween is not necessarily a 'nerd' thing and doesn't really fit with my normal set-up, people so still dress up for Halloween. Some people go through a lot trouble to make the best costumes; spending a lot of their money, time, and energy into creating the perfect costume! I personally do not dress up for Halloween, and it's not my favorite thing about it. What is my favorite part of Halloween though...is candy!

Why Candy?

Now, you may be thinking, "Emily! Candy isn't nerd related!" and to that I say...
Emily don't care
I like candy, I'm a nerd, thus it's nerd related! End of discussion! I don't see why anyone would not like candy. Candy is like..the best thing since sliced bread. It's fairly cheap if you get them in variety bags around Halloween, and they almost never go stale. I remember as a kid having Halloween candy for months! Yes, I'd get cavities, but it brought me so much joy. I loved going house to house just collecting candy, sometimes even needing to go to my mother to grab another bag because mine got full. I loved how my brother would give me the suckers he collected (since they're my favorite), in exchange that I gave him my Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

It was such a good trade because he loved peanut butter and I have an odd love for suckers. Around Halloween, there's almost always a Tootsie Pop sucker in my mouth. I always tell people that if they're going to give me candy to just give me suckers. It's probably why I was more prone to cavities after Halloween than my brother, because suckers are basically pure sugar. My mother never knew why I loved suckers so much, though. It doesn't even need to be Halloween. CEFCU, the bank I use, typically has little suckers out in a bowl and I grab at least 20 when no one's looking. And candy shops are basically Heaven for me because they have those big, swirly lollipops:

Oh god I get like five. I have to stop myself from going into Holland's Candy Store in the Washington Square when visiting my friend because I will literally buy all of them. And I have before. I got the strangest looks. I think it's because when I have a sucker in my mouth, it's the only time I shut up.

I blame it on this show that aired (and may still air) called 'Unwrapped', where this guy named Marc Summers would go to different factories and would show how the food is made. That show basically took up 95% of my time during Halloween because they always had episodes on how certain candies were made.

I was a weird child, I know. But that's not the point. The point is if someone doesn't like candy, then I automatically judge them as a person. If they consider mints a candy, then I really judge them because mints aren't candy! They're not! They freshen up your breath but other than that, they have no candiness to them. I mean yes they're candied but if you're the type of person to give mints to kids on Halloween then you shouldn't give out candy in the first place. And to those people who give out caramel apples---don't give them to me. I want candy, you cheap ****.

And to those that say Halloween is for kids..
Halloween is cool!
I don't even care. I'll be a child forever. You're just upset that I am still a child at heart!
