How To Get Your Game On

Step One: Equipment

Some Basic Equipment

In order to start your gaming, you have to gather your equipment. You can't play a game without a console, so let's start there. There are many types of consoles: a Computer, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, XBox One, XBox 360, or a Wii. What's most popular is either playing by computer or by XBOX One due to the fact that you can play a lot more games on XBox due to the fact that it's newer. The perks of playing on a computer is that you can constantly update the system without going out and buying an entirely new computer. You just upgrade the graphic card or whatever you like, and it can run the latest games. I personally play on the computer, so I will be referring to this as if you'd be playing on the computer.

A computer price can range from $200 to $20000, depending on how much you want to spend on it, the graphics of it, the company you buy it from, and whether not you want it portable. Some people have a desktop set up with up to three monitors to get a good look around their game, while others opt for gaming laptops, so they can game on the fly. I use a laptop, but to each their own. A typical gaming set up typically looks like this:
set up one
This is if they are using three monitors. Some only use one monitor, though, and it typically it set up like this:
set up 2

If you can, however, I would suggest building your own computer so you can easily upgrade it. Some companies make it hard to access the motherboard to replace parts, and you can even damage your computer trying to get to it. Take my story for an example. I was trying to replace my graphics card in my old laptop, but while I was trying to figure out how to get the stupid case off, it broke and the entire computer had to get replaced. Now, I am well versed in replacing parts in computers, it just so happened that Dell (the company of where the computuer was from), likes to hide their openings to the motherboard, and if you're not super careful, you will definitely break it.

Most gamers also have some sort of headset that they plug into their computer so they can chat with their friends as they play, or troll new players or players that maybe aren't doing so good. A good headset is around $60, and if you like to hear your teammates while you are away from the computer in a snack run, or a bathroom break, I'd grab a wireless headset. I have a Logitech G930, which is an awesome wireless headset so I can still listen to my teammates while I'm away, and at least give them input on what's happening on my side of the screen so they know how long to protect me from harm. They also have a mouse, be it wireless for full range of motion without having to worry about the wire catching on anything, or a plug in mouse. Any mouse will really do for this, unless you're a serious, hardcore gamer, that needs a mouse with 50,000 different buttons for different hotkeys.
