Depending on what your console is, what game you pick out is very important. You can't play a XBox 360 game on a computer and you can't really play a computer game on a XBox 360.
If you have a console that hooks up to the TV, like a XBox 360 or PlayStation 4, then you need a game that can be played on the TV. To find one, try Best Buy, Walmart, or Amazon to find a list of games for your console. Some games are limited to certain consoles, so if you like a game you saw on the TV for the PlayStation 4, there's a chance it won't be on the Xbox 360. Sadly, in that case, you just got to find a different game.
If you're looking for something casual to play, I suggest nothing that requires teammates, so you can relax. If you're looking to play with others, try a First Person Shooter game. If you don't want to play with others but want something more serious, try a Roleplaying Game, or RPG. RPGs typically have a mix of story and action to create a world, typically an open world, that is only limited to the gamer's imagination..and well the game. For example, Grand Theft Auto. I know GTA is violent, however, it is a mix of what I'm explaining because you can do missions and explore the world, and the seriousness of it all is dependent on how serious you make it.
There are a few outlets that you can buy games from, but the ones I'm aware of are Steam and Origin. Both of them typically have sales so if you want to buy a game but it's too expensive, just wait for a sale
to arrive to get it cheap. These can also be installed on any computer and you'll always have your games with you because they'll stay on your account. With a TV-Based console, if you want to transfer games, you have to actually bring
the game with you. With Steam and Origin, you don't need the disc because it's all on a server that holds your games. There's also communities and mods that you can download.
There's even a website called Humble Bundle that occasionally offers bundles on games or deals on games that you can buy the code for
and redeem on either Steam or Origin, depending on the game. Steam is ran by Valve and Origin is, I believe ran by Electronic Arts. However, Steam lets multiple developers put their games on their platform, while Origin is
almost exclusively only EA made games. So you're limited to only EA games if you buy from Origin. However, there's nothing stopping you from having both Origin and Steam. The best part about these platforms is that the program is free!
